PAEHolmes’ air quality management system, PlumeXpert, has been selected to track odour complaints in the Spanish industrial city of Tarragona, where the issue has a high public profile. The regional environmental authority has engaged Odournet, a European odour consultancy and European reseller of PlumeXpert, to use the system to track down sources of offensive odour. The Catalan government will use a combination of real-time meteorological data and details of complaints to build a database of likely sources of the complaints. This will enable a variety of investigations into events leading to individual complaints and analysis of complaint patterns over time.
The Diari de Tarragona reported the Director General of Environmental Quality, Maria Comellas as saying that the program would ‘professionalise’ the way in which the community problem is tackled.
