The Copenhagen summit is the ultimate focal point for the long-standing global debate on climate change and what to do about it. Science and politics are brought to the fore in one huge event.
Unfortunately, the translation of science into political action is always open to misinterpretation, misunderstanding and misrepresentation. And in that regard we are seeing both ends of the spectrum hard at work at Copenhagen.
PAEHolmes is a scientific service provider, so we are not in the business of making political commentary. Indeed, among our in-house meteorological experts there is a range of opinions about the extent to which humans are influencing global temperatures. But that is a far different story to the saga unfolding in Copenhagen, with all of the twists and intrigues of leaked or stolen emails, political upheavals and worldwide blogs teeming with both temperate and heated opinion.
Our interests are in providing our clients with objective advice and competent services based on sound science and engineering. It remains to be seen whether the decision-makers of the world will behave like our esteemed clients and take heed of the science in a rational and decisive way. The saga continues.
