We have worked in the aluminium industry, which includes bauxite mining, aluminium refining and metals processing, since inception.  

We provided the Australian Alumina Council, the peak representative body for the aluminum industry, with best practice guidance on the selection and application of models to stimulate and predict the impact of air emissions. Our expert advice included a comprehensive review of dispersion modeling including model options, model uncertainty, validation procedures, and recommendations on the suitability of models for various applications. With our best practice modelling guidelines, the industry is able to comply with regulations in the most efficient and effective way possible. 

Our regular services to the industry include:

• Assessing the potential impact of emissions resulting from changes to a facility; for example a plant changing boilers or adding new boilers to boost production 
• Performing dispersion modelling to determine the impact of changes in production and treatment processes and equipment 
• Identifying and evaluating emission sources in order to determine mitigation measures 
• Conducting environmental impact studies for the purpose of seeking development approvals 
• Performing assessment and modelling for the purpose of license condition renewals – this usually requires satisfaction of air quality goals and achievement of best practice environmental management 
• Estimating emissions in order to produce NPI reports.
